User Interface Overview

Dashboard Layout

After logging in to PromptScout, you'll be greeted with your personal dashboard. The PromptScout interface is designed for intuitive navigation and efficient prompt management:

1. Top Navigation Bar

The navigation bar at the top of the screen contains:

  • PromptScout Logo - Click to return to your dashboard from anywhere
  • Search Bar - Quickly find prompts in your library
  • Create Button - Start creating a new prompt
  • Notifications - View system and social notifications
  • User Menu - Access your profile, settings, and logout option

2. Sidebar Navigation

The left sidebar helps you navigate between major sections:

  • Dashboard - Your home view with recent prompts and activity
  • My Library - All your saved prompts
  • Explore - Discover public prompts from the community
  • Templates - Pre-built prompt structures for various purposes
  • API - Manage your API keys and developer settings
  • Settings - Configure your account preferences

Main Dashboard Sections

Your Prompt Library

The primary view in your dashboard displays your prompt library, offering:

  • Grid/List View Toggle - Switch between visual layouts for your prompts
  • Filter Controls - Filter prompts by category, tags, LLM type, and other attributes
  • Sort Options - Arrange prompts by date, name, or usage frequency
  • Prompt Cards - Visual representations of your saved prompts

Prompt Cards

Each prompt in your library is displayed as a card containing:

  • Prompt Title - The name you've given your prompt
  • Description - A brief summary of the prompt's purpose
  • Target LLM - Which language model the prompt is optimized for
  • Tags - Categories and custom tags for organization
  • Last Updated - When the prompt was last modified
  • Quick Actions - Edit, test, share, or favorite the prompt

Prompt Creation Interface

When creating or editing a prompt, you'll work with a multi-section form:

  • Basic Information - Name, description, and purpose
  • Prompt Type - Choose between system or user prompt
  • Target LLM - Select which LLM the prompt is designed for
  • Prompt Editor - Rich text area for writing your prompt
  • Template Options - Pre-built structures to accelerate prompt creation
  • Testing Panel - Try your prompt with sample inputs
  • Organization - Add tags and categories for easy retrieval

Pro Tip: Keyboard Shortcuts

PromptScout offers keyboard shortcuts to enhance your productivity:

  • N - Create a new prompt
  • / or S - Focus search bar
  • G + D - Go to dashboard
  • G + L - Go to library
  • G + E - Go to explore
  • ? - Show all shortcuts

Theme Settings

PromptScout supports both light and dark modes to accommodate your preferences and working conditions:

  • Light Mode - Default theme with a clean, bright interface
  • Dark Mode - Reduced eye strain in low-light environments
  • System Preference - Automatically matches your device's theme settings

You can change your theme preference in your account settings or use the quick toggle in the user menu.

Mobile Responsiveness

PromptScout is fully responsive and adapts to different screen sizes:

  • Desktop - Full-featured interface with optimized layout
  • Tablet - Adjusted spacing and layout for medium screens
  • Mobile - Streamlined interface with hamburger menu for navigation

While all features are accessible on mobile devices, we recommend using the desktop interface for extensive prompt creation and editing sessions.
